Second scientific workshops
WP2 Geographic, clinical, multi-disciplinary and life-course integration
The second scientific meeting was held on the 18th of March, in Amsterdam. The main focus of the workshop, which was hosted by Professor Jim van Os, was on clinical research and on the integration of the gaps and advances identified by the other scientific work packages.
WP3 Research capacity, funding, infrastructures and capacity building
The second scientific meeting of WP3 was hosted by Professor Marion Leboyer on two consecutive days, 4-5th of February, 2013, in Paris. The workshop was organized to analyse gaps and advances needed in infrastructures, training & capacity-building and in funding of mental health research in Europe. Analysing the gaps can make it possible to develop a strategic approach for the improvement of the aforementioned areas at the pan-European level, bridging the gaps between disciplines, between countries, and between the academic and industry sector.
WP4 Biomedical: Neurobiological, pharmacological and clinical research
The second scientific workshop of WP4 was scheduled to the 28th of February, 2013. The meeting took place in London. The main goal of the workshop was to analyse gaps and advances needed in neurobiological, pharmacological and clinical research in Europe. The workshop was hosted by Professor Gunter Schumann and with the important contribution of the invited experts it was possible to achieve its main aims.
WP5 Psychological research and treatments
The second scientific workshop of WP5 was successfully organized in London on the 1st of March 1, 2013. The workshop was hosted by Professor Hans-Ulrich Wittchen. The main aim of the workshop was to discuss the existing gaps and advances in the field of psychological mental health research and treatments in Europe, with separate analyses both for research and practice. The invited experts provided their important contribution to making the workshop a fruitful event.
WP6 Social and economic aspects
The second scientific workshop of WP6 was held on the 12-13th of March, in London. The main aim of the workshop was to discuss the gaps and advances regarding the social and economic aspects of mental health research in Europe. Experts of both areas were invited to the workshop, where both aspects were discussed. The outcomes of the scientific workshop will be further refined by the Scientific Advisory Board and by consulting stakeholders.

During the workshop specific research questions were formed which need to be answered to promote mental health of the population in Europe in the research areas of epidemiology, health services research, prevention research, health promotion research and policy analysis. In the following period priorities in each of the five topic areas (epidemiology, health services research, promotion, prevention and policy analysis) will be developed based on a Delphi process, including also stakeholder consultations.
WP8 Well-being research
The second scientific meeting of WP8 took place on the 7th of February, 2013, in Madrid. The workshop was hosted by Professor Ayuso. The main aim of the workshop was to merge information from the previous task (state-of-the-art in the area of mental health and well-being research) and to highlight research gaps and advances relevant to well-being research in Europe.
