WP1. Project management and coordination
Background
ROAMER will produce a coordinated Roadmap for the promotion and integration of mental health
and well-being research in Europe, based on a common methodology and a conceptual framework
which covers the full spectrum of biological, psychological, epidemiological, public health, social and
economic aspects of mental health and well-being. Although the aim is an overall Roadmap with
actionable recommendations, it will be the outcome of a coordination effort involving roadmaps
specifically designed for the major research areas of mental health and well-being, including
infrastructures, capacity building and funding programs. The common methodology itself is a
coordination mechanism that guarantees comparability, consistency and coherence of results. This
methodology incorporates both the processes required to develop the specific area roadmaps as well
as the consensus-creating mechanisms. Moreover the methodology has to set also the indicators
and criteria which are to be adapted to measure, evaluate and prioritise research problems and
initiatives.
Objectives
The work package aims to ensure that the project remains on track and that it is effectively and correctly managed. This includes the following detailed objectives:
- To manage the project according to approved plans
- To monitor, track and control deviations due to progress, costs, financial and scheduling changes
- To ensure that the required reporting is prepared and delivered on time
- To implement an administration and communication infrastructure
Partners
All partners are involved in this WP since each organisation has to provide the mandatory financial and reporting documents requested by the European Commission. CIBERSAM will be responsible for overall management, while CF will support CIBERSAM and all other partners in the actuation and the monitoring of the management process.
Coordinator (CIBERSAM)
Dr. Josep Maria Haro
The coordinator of the ROAMER initiative aims at boosting the efficiency of the project. He is in charge of smoothing the flow of the project, making decisions and ensuring the highest standard in both organisational and financial terms.
Project manager (CIBERSAM)
Dr. Carla Obradors
The project manager is responsible for administrative, legal and financial issues concerning the whole project and will be in direct contact with the Scientific Officer. Moreover, she manages the day-to-day activities of the consortium, ensuring that all reporting and legal requirements are met, and leads the Project Team by actively working to facilitate and safeguard the implementation of the common methodology and to enhance the promotion and dissemination of the ROAMER.
Financial controller and legal expert (CF CONSULTING)
Carla Finnochiaro
Grazia Pagano
Pamela Cammarata
They assist the project manager and the coordinator in monitoring the legal issues and the budget and financial reporting to the EC, and are available to the consortium partners for financial or budgetary questions during the implementation of ROAMER.
Ethicist (CIBERSAM)
Jerome Bickenbach
Activities organized by WP1
Kick-off meeting
The Kick-Off meeting of ROAMER, hold by Dr. Josep Maria Haro (CIBERSAM), took place successfully in Barcelona at Sant Joan de Déu Numància on November 16th-17th, 2011.
The kick-off meeting brought together the core members of the ROAMER project (i.e. representatives of partner institutions, WP leaders and postdocs) and aimed to discuss and define by consensus the common terms, the fundamental definitions, the overarching methodology (including inclusion/exclusion criteria to select the members of the scientific WPs, the Scientific AB and the Stakeholder AB, and the government and funding institution council), and the scope of the ROAMER project.
Representatives of similar initiatives that had already ended up with success (i.e. FUTURAGE, DIAMAP) were invited to provide their expertise and their advice during the first stage of the project.

First round of the survey consultation for researchers
The first round of the survey consultation on Mental Health and Well-being research in Europe for researchers was launched in April 2012!
It covers three areas:
1) Research priorities
2) Identification of current groups and lines of research
3) Research funding
Around 200 European expert scientists of all fields within Mental Health and Well-being research have been invited to participate.
The output of the survey will be published on the ROAMER website soon.
Second round of the survey consultation for researchers
The second e-survey will target a broad list of European research groups in the Mental health and Well-being fields and will be launched by the end of the year 2012.
First Scientific Advisory Board Meeting
The first meeting of the Scientific Advisory Board took place in Barcelona on the 18th December, 2012.
Second Executive Advisory Board Meeting
The second meeting of the Executive Advisory Board meeting took place in Barcelona on the 19th December, 2012.
