Project teams

The ROAMER project is being carried out by European scientists, with extensive stakeholder involvement including users, family members, carers, clinicians, and policy-makers.
ROAMER is structured into six key areas, reflecting a broad approach and the importance of a multidisciplinary focus in the field of mental health and well-being. These six areas will be addressed by the following expert work packages (WPs):

  • Research capacity, infrastructure, capacity-building and funding strategies in mental health research (led by Prof. Marion Leboyer, Foundation FondaMental; and Prof. Jacques Demotes, Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale, INSERM)
  • Biomedical research (led by Prof. Gunter Schumann, King's College London, KCL)
  • Psychological research and treatments (led by Prof. Hans-Ulrich Wittchen, Technische Universität Dresden, TUD)
  • Social and economic aspects (led by Dr. David McDaid, London School of Economics, LSE; and Prof. Graham Thornicroft, KCL)
  • Public health research (led by Prof. Kristian Wahlbeck, Nordiska Högskolan för Folkhälsovetenskap, NHV; and Prof. Christina van der Feltz-Cornelis, Trimbos-Instituut)
  • Well-being (led by Prof. José Luis Ayuso-Mateos, CIBERSAM, Madrid)

The Work Package Teams (WP Teams) are groups of 20-30 expert scientists in one specific area within mental health and well-being research which are responsible for an effective and efficient implementation of the work associated with this area.
An additional expert WP has been created to analyse the Geographic, multidisciplinary and life-course integration (led by Prof. Jim van Os, Maastricht University Medical Centre, MUMC)
Moreover, Prof. Mario Maj (Seconda Università degli Studi di Napoli, SUN) has been appointed as WP leader for Stakeholder involvement, Prof. Istvan Bitter (Semmelweis University, SE) will lead the WP on Promotion and dissemination, and Prof. Til Wykes (KCL) and Prof. Shôn Lewis (University of Manchester, UoM) will lead the Integration into roadmaps of all this information.

Dr. Haro (CIBERSAM) has been appointed as the Coordinator of the ROAMER project and will lead the Project management.
